Winn Pham: Engineering Specialist & Data Scientist

Meet Winn Pham

Winn Pham is a multi-disciplinary technologist and problem solver who specializes in translating complex data into actionable human-centered systems. Born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Winn was raised in an environment of academic rigor, studying primarily in French and gaining early exposure to diverse global cultures. Although her parents were doctors who hoped she would follow their path, Winn’s curiosity led her to explore the world’s possibilities, initially pursuing Biotechnology and later finding her true calling in the transformative power of data.

Her international academic journey is a testament to her dedication, including studies in Japan at Hokkaido University, a Master of Science in Food Technology from the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, and finally, a Master of Science in Analytics from Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. It was during her studies in Belgium and her subsequent Master’s work—inspired by her successful older sister—that Winn developed her full programming skill set and realized her passion lay in applied statistics, math, and analytics use cases.

Winn brings years of practical R&D experience from the food industry, where she specialized in process optimization. Her work included identifying optimal factory sites, creating regulatory analysis dashboards, and coordinating complex data sources to streamline operations. This background cemented her belief in using technology for practical, people-focused results. She joined Smart Systems Technology (SST) because of this mission, stating, “Mr. Celli said we can lift people up with the future of technology, not push them down and out because of it. That touched me.” She is driven to ensure that technological advancements, including AI, improve institutions without causing organizational layoffs.

As an Engineering Specialist and Data Scientist at SST, Winn’s expertise spans the entire data ecosystem. While she currently focuses on front-end visualization, she works closely with the team on backend data pipelines and infrastructure, often using her preferred language, Python, and leveraging specialized knowledge from her certifications in Databrickx, large language models, and AI platforms. Winn is currently central to a special strategic project, working directly with the CEO to develop recommendations on the horizontal data flows that will strategically position the Current and Organics platforms.

Winn embodies resilience in her life and work. She approaches complex technical challenges with the mindset that “failure is not the end of the world; success comes from managing failure well.” This discipline and drive extend to her personal life: she practices yoga, Pilates, and Aikijujutsu, and is a decorated athlete, having won a bronze medal in the Vietnam National Judo Championship after beginning her training at age sixteen.

Winn’s vision at SST is to use data automation to “rebirth” overloaded critical systems—like Public Defender and Child Welfare services—that are currently performing poorly due to overwhelming data friction. She is committed to delivering human-centered solutions that fulfill technology’s promise to make a meaningful impact on society.
